The Kitchen Assistant
Thank you for your interest in a position at Furnace Creek Farm. We are a production farm, growing and producing medicinal and culinary herbs to make into products, sell as fresh herbs at the market, and provide as plants for gardens and containers.
In this position, you will be part of the kitchen team responsible for brewing and bottling tea, extracting herbs in honey and vinegar, powdering medicinal roots, and blending ingredients for our product line. Each person begins in a support position which involves unloading the market van, restocking, and clean up. During this time you will learn how our kitchen is set up and best practices that make things go smoothly. As you gain experience in your role, you will become more involved in prepping the herbs and working with the recipes.
Our summer session has seasonal availability for students that will return to class in the fall, and also permanent roles to continue working through the winter on a year round basis. During the interview process, we will discuss your schedule needs and set up a role accordingly.
We are now in our tenth year and it has been a pleasure working with our vibrant, creative, and enthusiastic staff members.
I look forward to meeting you!

THE INTERVIEW PROCESS
We’d like to make sure this is going to be a good fit!
We’ll start by asking a few questions below. Read through and submit the form, then we’ll set up a Zoom to connect. You’ll be able to ask questions and we can talk about the role, along with what a schedule would look like. Finally, we’ll set up a visit to the farm where you can see everything in action. If this matches up, we do a “try out” day where you work in the kitchen for 2-4 paid hours to get a feel for the job. After that, we establish a regular schedule.
